Glassboards vs Whiteboards: What's the Difference?

It's a common question, since Glassboards are still relatively new to the market compared to traditional whiteboards. Glassboards feature a toughened safety glass surface with a steel sheet backing, giving them exceptional durability and a completely non-porous finish. Traditional whiteboards, by comparison, use either an acrylic Commercial or baked enamel Porcelain surface on MDF with a steel sheet backing, finished with a frame to conceal the board edges. Glassboards are widely regarded as the more modern, premium option - commonly supplied to schools and universities, hospitals and healthcare facilities, commercial offices, and government departments right across Australia.

Lumiere Magnetic Glassboard

For spaces where design matters as much as function, our Lumiere Magnetic Glassboard brings together premium materials and a refined finish. Built from 4.5mm toughened safety glass with a UV-cured coating applied in five passes, it delivers a brilliant, non-ghosting surface that stays crisp and clear for the long term - backed by an industry-leading 50-year surface warranty. Every detail has been considered, from the polished edges and 6mm rounded corners through to the completely flush, frameless wall mount with no visible fixings. LX9000 Magnetic Glassboard - Slimline Edge Frame

If a fully concealed fixing system is top of your list, the LX9 Magnetic Glassboard is built around exactly that. A slim anodised aluminium frame runs edge-to-edge around the magnetic glass surface, hiding every fixing from view and leaving nothing but a clean, continuous glass face - a finish that suits premium office fit-outs, meeting rooms, and architectural spaces where presentation counts.

Installation is flexible thanks to a reversible split batten system, allowing the board to be mounted either vertically or horizontally to suit the space. The frame itself comes standard in silver, with black, white, or custom powdercoat colour finishes also available. Each LX9000 Edge Framed Glassboard is supplied with an 800mm aluminium adherable pen tray for easy access to markers.
